Medieval Themed Chaos

  I used black paper, I’ve had little to no experience working on black paper. As well as oil pastels, I haven’t got any sorta clue of how to use them, but I quite like how it turned out. I gave myself a time constrained to further develop the sense of degradation not only through memory and extended time, but the lack of time as well.

 My piece reflects the degradation of an image over time, but rather than a physical thing it’s a memory, more of a feeling than anything. In relations to the classes she mentions in her writing, my piece is more reserved, it’s for me, it’s something I cherish and love. There isn’t a loss in aura , there isn’t reproduction of the image , because it comes from my mind. it isn’t just what’s on the paper, it’s what’s on the paper that reminds me of the feelings in that moment. In the end, it’s a piece only I will truly understand.

           My plan for the first project is to take a little bit of an alternative spin on the whole deduction of quality. I’m going to try it on material I don’t usually use, and a media I haven’t used before. I’m going to recreate a distinct memory I had while in the passenger seat of my mum’s car years ago, I’m also doing it under a time constraint to lower the “quality” or detail I can achieve.  So because it’s from memory, I do not have a before picture, but I’m confident I will like the piece
